Observing and documenting a child’s development helps to identify strengths and weaknesses in development, to track progress in all different areas, and is also a great tool to help providers partner with and communicate with parents about their child’s development.

    • Observing and documenting a child’s development can help early learning providers by determining whether or not the child is on the right path for growth and development or whether or not they need extra help and focus on certain areas it can also help us to create and adjust our curriculum by knowing where the majority of the class falls and who may or may not need help for certain activities.

Observations and documentation of a child’s development can be used to identify the child’s strengths and any challenges they may have. With this knowledge, we can track a child’s learning progress over time and develop better understanding how to properly care for and teach them

Observing a child’s behavior helps the provider understand the child’s growth and development. By being able to keep track of these, the provider will be able to connect with the child using their knowledge on the development and growth of the child.

Observing and documenting a child’s development can help early learning and childcare providers identify children’s individual skills or abilities in order to cater content to helping them learn. This creates a more stable and engaging learning environment for children and promotes their ability to explore themselves, their emotions, their interests and their abilities in a developmentally appropriate way and setting. With this, children are better able to develop their cognitive and socioemotional skills and abilities to traverse through the world.

It helps the early learning teacher understand where the child is at in their development. And from there can help get to know them and help them individually learn.
