I would welcome a child into my classroom and have the child fill out some kind of “about me” page that would allow them to share certain information with the class and maybe ask if they can bring in a thing or two that means a lot to them or is something dear to them (could be a cultural item that they would like to share with the class so we could better understand their culture). I would also have the rest of the children participate and introduce themselves and share at least one thing with the class that is special to them and means a lot to them or their culture or family.
