    Which WACs address diversity and collaboration with families?
    What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration?

    Section 100-300-0160 states that:

    (1) An early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities. Diverse learning opportunities must be demonstrated by the provider’s curriculum, activities, and materials that represent all children, families, and staff. A provider must use equipment and materials that include, but are not limited to:

    (a) Diverse dolls, books, pictures, games, or materials that do not reinforce stereotypes;

    (b) Diverse music from many cultures in children’s primary languages; and

    (c) A balance of different ethnic and cultural groups, ages, abilities, family styles, and genders.

    2. What big messages do the WACs give regarding diversity and collaboration?

    WACs remarks on the importance of inclusion. It is vital for children coming from diverse background to feel comfortable and welcome in their new environment. Teachers and aides have the responsibility to make these children and families to feel at ease as much as possible. By making the children feel a sense of familiarity in the daily activities and class curriculum, wether that is through music in their native language, a book about their country or culture, dolls that represent their identity, etc.
