I do think some screen time is important as it’s going to be a huge part of their future, but it’s important not to become dependent on it to the point it becomes an addiction. Studies have shown that many social media platforms purposely make their platforms as addictive as possible by doing things such as making notifications red. Red is known to be a triggering color and seeing it on your screen makes us feel a need to get rid of it by checking. Also, when pulling down on the screen to “refresh” the page, this action is done because it’s similar to pulling down on a lever in a casino. This makes electronics extremely addictive. What’s sad is, addictions are hard enough to deal with as an adult and we’re putting it in the hands of children like it’s no big deal. Clearly it does have adverse affects.
