I believe animals are a good productive way of putting a smile on a child’s face. This also shows how to take responsibility of taking care an animal as well. Even if we don’t have a pet in the classroom I’ve seen teachers use a stuff animal or plastic toy as a classroom pet and students were able to take the classroom pet (toy) home for the night and bring it back the next day. The child is able to share what they did with the classroom pet. As of right now I’ve been telling my students what my puppy has been up to almost everyday. I also show updated picture of my puppy as well. Students love see pictures of my puppy as well as my cat.
