    Components of Human diversity

Humans are diverse in many ways, including intellectual ability, physical appearance, social background, and more. These differences can be difficult to understand for people who don’t experience them themselves. This discussion will explore the components of human diversity and their importance to Early Childhood education.

The Components of human diversity influence children in many ways. It can teach children that it’s okay to be different by knowing children of different backgrounds and beliefs. By getting to know students or other kids who possibly have different religions, ethnicity, gender, and abilities they grow to be independent thinkers. They will also learn to be kind to others.

The components of human diversity influence a child’s understanding and acceptance of other individuals in their family and peer groups. As this understanding develops through their childhood, their attitudes and behaviors towards diversity in their community will change as well. Hopefully, the child is able to grow and be comfortable with their own uniqueness and has acceptance for people that are different from them.

The components of human diversity shape a child’s attitude about themselves and others in their community and globally. It is very important for a child to feel confident in their own identity and to be accepting/respectful to others. It is important to support each child’s sense of self while also teaching acceptance and appreciation for others diversity and modeling that behavior in front of the child.

I think that this is as important as teachers needing to embrace the diversity of their students and therefore helping to aide them in self confidence.

The components of human diversity will influence how a child views the world, and this in turn will influence a child’s well-being, behavior, attitudes, and growth.

The components of human diversity will influence children to not only view their backgrounds as something great but to view the people around them that even though their gender, race/ethnicity, and religion is not the same as their’s, that it is normal. It will open their eyes to the diverse world that we live in, it will influence them on how to be kind and friendly to the people they are surrounded by on a daily basis.

The components of human diversity can greatly impact a child’s well-being, behavior, and growth. For example, a child may come from a Chinese household and mostly speaks Mandarin and knows very little English that child will most likely have great difficulty communicating with strictly English speaking classmates and teachers. This gap in communication will negativity impact the child’s behavior and growth and that is why it so important to provide a classroom that has language accommodations so that all children feel welcome no matter what language they speak. This kind of classroom environment would also promote other students to want to learn different languages so that they commicate with one another. Another accommodation the teacher could provide for their students is classroom activities that would provide the children information on different cultures of the world and how they are celebrated so that no child feels like they and their culture are not appreciated creating a positive classroom environment for all.

It is common for a child to adopt the beliefs and ideas of their parents as their own. This is why it is so important to be able to understand and discuss a child’s family and their unique beliefs as opposed to your own. A child will be able to more closely identify with you as a teacher if you can relate with their family’s beliefs and diversity; to discuss your own diversity and beliefs as if they are superior or the norm is misleading for your students. All beliefs, customs, and aspects of diversity are equal and should be both respected and discussed. Straying from “the norms” in a classroom will benefit your class as a whole.

The components of human diversity shape a child’s attitude towards him/herself, their family and community. These components can influence behavior, confidence and attitudes. Understanding your own culture and being exposed to other cultures gives one more full worldview and can contribute to understanding and acceptance

Parents raise their children based on the cultural background they were brought up in. That does not mean that one culture is superior to another. A good teacher tries to understand how a child’s behavior is influenced by that child’s culture and develop enriching learning experiences for young children based on children’s unique cultural experiences, beliefs and traditions.

Components of diversity can and will help children form a sense of self, and whether they feel accepted. The more exposed children are to differences in culture in a way that celebrates, or simply recognizes without negative connotation, the clusters of cultures nationwide, the more likely they are to see people different then they are as equals rather than superior or inferior. They will not grow up to place shame on their own culture or someone else’s.

The components of human diversity influence children to understand and accept that, although others have different cultures than their own, all cultural backgrounds deserve to be recognized and respected. There is no culture that outweighs the others in importance. They are all equal, and should be seen as such.

Not only do the children’s’ individual cultural components influence their acceptance, exposure to differing cultural backgrounds influence it as well. When children interact with people of different language backgrounds, religion, family history, ability, socio-economic class, and race or ethnicity, they learn about the differences among people in the world, and we as childcare staff guide them into learning that these differences are to be celebrated and that they bring us together as a community.

It is very important to share with children that in the world there are people with different races, genders, languages, abilities and life experiences, among others, this situation makes us different from each other, however, we must respect the different points of view of each person since we are all equal.
