A good routine should involve adaptability to cater to specific children. It should be balanced between physical activity, mental stimulation, and rest.

I would suggest allowing kids to be messy in the art room let them mix colors and see how things can be created! That just gives them a more open space to mess up and learn!

Maintaining a daily schedule should be a priority but I think also reminding teachers that a daily schedule and routine benefits children, all activities should hope to be achieved throughout the day but not being stringent with specific times within the schedule could relive stress of the teacher and kids.

A visual schedule would be a good idea to with many kids learn from seeing pictures just like books they see the image and the will process the picture and put it in action.

I think some tips I have are planning ahead for the week and having a document with all the activities to look forward to. This can also be something you share with parents that way they can possibly support these activities at home. It can also be helpful to reflect on the previous week of activities and see what areas the kids need more guidance in and where their interests lie.

Being consistent with your schedule is important, while still being flexible when necessary. I like to see schedules visually, so printing them out is helpful!

Have the same thing that needs to happen like bathroom time and lunch at the same time so they kids know at this time its lunch and bathroom break for everyone. Also, when making a schedule with the activates make some smaller ones in case you finish the activity faster than expected. If you don’t use the extra activity, you can use it for the following day.

Schedules help children keep track of time and know what to expect. Building a schedule around nap/meal times can help determine the flow of the day. Allow for some flexibility but maintaining a general timeline

An important part of development is variety, so to create and maintain a daily schedule a provider must have a good blend of activities. This includes, active time, rest, craft, socialization, outside time, snack, learning, and more.

Allow the children to help build their routine, such as choosing activities or the order of events. This encourages a sense of ownership and cooperation.

Tips for Daily Schedule: (1) Keep it consistent (predictability helps children feel secure and builds independence; (2) Build in flexibility (allow time for children to finish activities or follow their interests; (3) Include long, uninterrupted work periods (especially in Montessori settings, this fosters deep concentration and meaningful engagement; (4) Balance active and quiet times (alternate between movement, work, meals, and rest to support regulation; (5) Visual cues help (use pictures or charts so children can anticipate what comes next; (6) Follow the child (observe and adjust based on the group’s needs and developmental stages)
