To build connections with children in the classroom, early learning providers should be present, engaged, and listen actively. They should respect individuality, create a safe environment, encourage independence, foster positive relationships, celebrate achievements, be flexible, promote collaboration, and communicate openly with families.

Children sense when you are not sincere. My advice is to spend time observing and getting to know the attitudes and behaviors of individual children. They will appreciate it all the more when you approach them and address their needs with the knowledge and understanding that comes from knowing a child well.

By interacting with each child, you are building connections. They are more likely to listen to you and respond to you when you have built this rapport.

What advice would you give to other Early learning Providers who want to build connections with children in their classroom?

Some advice I can give, would be to show enthusiasm with children. With every child, it is important to show a lot of excitement to be around them, play with them, and teach them. Most of the time, the child will feel eager but a little nervous to be themselves, so it is important that us providers let them express themselves, by being welcoming and enthusiastic!

Take the time to get to know them, discover their interests, and figure out which styles of communication work best for them.

Get to know each child personally. Get to know their families as well. Sometimes there are things that are going on at home that be the reason for them to being acting out.

By listening and observing children you can figure out their likes and dis likes and use this to grow a connection. Trying to get all children involved and get them to be part of the group.

I think asking them questions and learning how they think, and what they like by listening to them is extremely important. also being engaged, and sometimes partaking in their activities.
