    Consider age and developmental stage.

Balance activities: active play, quiet time, learning, and free play.

Establish consistent routines for waking, meals, naps, and bedtime.

Be flexible to accommodate children’s needs and interests.

Communicate expectations clearly using visual aids or verbal reminders.

Involve children in planning when possible.

Use transition cues like timers or songs.

Allow for downtime for rest and self-directed play.

Observe and adjust the schedule based on children’s responses.

Maintain a positive atmosphere with encouragement and praise.

Schedules are important children know what to expect after each activity I like to start off with free time as they are getting to their daycare after would be breakfast time more free play and then we have circle time after outdoor play then back inside and time for lunch after would be rest time and then we do our art activities either morning or afternoon depending and more free play and read a book before time to go back home .

When making a schedule start with the planned meal, snack, and nap times then work the rest of the day around that.

Pay attention to the times where the children are most high-energy (for me its after snack and before recess time) and try to plan activities in a way that counteracts the energy.

Keep the schedule and routine the same day-to-day so the kids know what to expect and to make the schedule run smoother more consistently.

I find it helpful when creating a schedule to add extra times for cleaning up after work time, or snack, etc… just so I can have a better idea of what we can fit in, and so we’re also not rushing to finish certain activities, and the kids can just focus on enjoying them.

it is also important to provide a few breaks or recess time after work time. If children can not go outdoor to play because of the weather, I think it is important to provide other physical activities like dancing or games where they have to move so their little bodies can release extra energy

Post the schedule on the board each day. Be sure to include visuals with the schedule. Share the schedule with families.

Incorporate transition times between activities to help children shift focus and prepare for the next activity. Use songs, rhymes, or simple routines to signal transitions.

While having a schedule is important, be flexible and adaptable to accommodate unexpected changes or individual needs of children. Allow room for spontaneity and follow children’s cues when necessary.

Have a certain set of things you do at a certain time each day, get children used to the routine so they have an idea of what’s to come next.

The daily schedule should include brushing teeth and/or washing hands before going to snack or lunch. I include free choice/large group and small group. outdoor time, art, music, etc. I also have velcro on each picture of the event so that my weekly schedule helper can move to another velcro dot showing that we completed the activity. They love doing this.

Make sure care providers who temporarily enter the room are aware of schedules. Build the schedule based off of children’s wants, needs and opinions

Do you have any tips or advice on creating and maintaining a daily schedule for children?

An important tip would be having balance. Having a balance of outdoor time, quiet-time, reading time, play time with friends, arts and crafts, and self expression/ imaginative play.

It’s important to make sure that there is plenty of time during transitions, make it fun and exciting to move on to the next activity so that they’re interested in moving on.

Creating and sticking to a daily schedule for kids means keeping things consistent, yet flexible. Make sure there’s a routine for waking up, meals, playtime, learning, and bedtime. Balance different activities throughout the day, like play, learning, quiet time, and outdoor fun. Use visual things if it helps, and communicate the schedule clearly to the kids. Stay open to changes and adjust the schedule as needed. This way, you can create a smooth and enjoyable daily routine for everyone.

Once you find one that works with your class stick too it unless days are different in the week and tell student to look for the schedule and read what it says

I think Design a routine that allows for adjustments while maintaining a sense of structure. Keep it Simple: Aim for a simple daily schedule that is easy to understand and follow. Avoid overwhelming your child with too many activities or rigid time constraints. Focus on the key elements of their day and build from there
