Some of the things needed are stacking blocks, dramatic play area with props, clothing and furniture, dolls that accurately reflect cultural groups, squeeze toys, filling and dumping containers, musical instruments, books, felt boards.

Be sure to think about how these items will contribute to a schedule that is child centered.

WHEN CREATING AN AGENDA ITS IMPORTANT TO HAVE ACTIVITIES THAT WILL ENGAGE BOTH THE CHILD AND TEACHERS AND INCORPORATE DESIGNS LIKE ARTWORK TO THE AGENDA THAT WILL HELP CATCH THE EYE OF THE CHILD. ALSO HAVING IN BETWEEN TIME, TIME RESTRICTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO CLEANING OR PREPARING FOR THE NEXT TIME STAMP

I think my number one tip is to block out chunks of time that are about 20-25 minutes each. Having a mix of work and play allow the children to stay interested in the staff-initiated activities. My other tip is to stick with the schedule as much as possible as possible. A small revision may need to happen on a day-to-day basis, but children can and will recognize that the schedule has been altered and is not consistent.

Plan the schedule by first separating out all the different activities and consider the time frame needed to do those activities. Next, put the necessary tasks in the schedule first (check in/out, snacks/meals, naps, hygiene, indoor/outdoor), then fill in the rest of the activities based on the energy level needed for the activities (quiet activities before/after nap, etc.).

Plan around the meal times. Those times do not change, in a center it is important to schedule outdoor times and restroom time with the rest of the classrooms. A good schedule is class management. When deciding activities think about what else is happening during the day. Perhaps avoid intense learning activities right before nap time and do them when the children are well rested.

Working with other classrooms in large facilities is essential. Thank you for pointing this out for us.

When creating a schedule we need to think about the age group of children. Then, we can set up stations that will be held at different times. Circle time, Art, Reading, Dancing, Lunch, Outside time, Nap time, Snack time we can set up all those activities throughout the day.

Establish and keep a general schedule for each day, within each time block have a list of resources and activities to choose from that fit that activity. Track which activities are used, when, and how often to ensure variety while also tracking engagement and enjoyment of the children.

When making a schedule start with the most important sections for basic needs such as meal time, nap time, and curriculum time. Once you have those planned, you can add activity times such as play time or outdoor time.

As a routine we have breakfast, lunch, nap time, snack and circle time and projects we do at the same time everyday that way the children are in a routine and all on the same schedule. They know in advance what will be happening.

I keep my schedule the same every day. But with children you know the no two days are alike. It is so much easier on the childrenbecause they know what’s next. They have some control. You don’t have to go exactly by the clock but follow the same order. If it’s 9:45 and the children and playing so good, it’s OK to extend it for another 5 to 10 minutes. Plus it helps them if you tell them… OK in 5 minutes we are going to cleanup to have snack. The transition from one activity to the next is much easier.

I think when creating a daily schedule it is important to receive assistance from the children you are working with and allow them to have some say in what their schedule will be. You should remember that snack and rest time are both very important to child development and you should make sure to give them plenty of free play time.

I would say to make sure you schedule meals and naptime first. Lay out the schedule in a way that will flow as smoothly as possible, like transitioning from lunchtime, to washing hands, to finding their cot and going into naptime. Include diaper and playtimes too. Don’t forget to include circle time or book time!

I would say keep it simple and flexible. Start with a basic schedule that includes meals, snacks, outdoor play, nap time, and quiet time, but be flexible and willing to adjust it as needed based on the children’s needs and interests. Also involve the children in the schedule-making process by asking for their input and preferences. This can help them feel more in control and involved in their day-to-day activities.

I think having children involvement is huge. They will lead to more attention spent on said routine. As well has having your routine posted visibly.
