MemberSeptember 29, 2023 at 10:03 pmMy advice for creating and maintaining a partnership with families is to first be respectful and kind. Listen to the family. If there is a conflict, start with something positive. Let your interactions with family be thoughtful, helpful, intelligent, necessary and kind.

Our school encourages families to come to us whenever they want to talk about their concerns or questions regarding school or their children. Families are invited to the classroom as guest speakers, volunteers, and guests to holiday parties. At drop off and pick up teachers are present for conversation or questions.

MemberOctober 6, 2023 at 4:42 amWhat is your advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership between caregivers/parents and childcare providers?
With families, I believe being welcoming, having a warm demeanor, being proactive, communicative, supportive, and thus providing trust and inclusivity. With childcare providers, being all those things, as well as punctual, responsible, and outstanding in the work you do provided.

MemberOctober 18, 2023 at 10:09 pmMy advice is to always establish a relationship right away, let the parents know that you and anyone working at the child care center are always open for discussion. Having bi weekly check ins with the parents just at pick up time is a really good strategy.

MemberOctober 23, 2023 at 9:41 pmMy humble advice is to, first, establish an expectation for consistent, ongoing communication and create the space for this communication to occur. Provide families with good news, followed by areas of concern. It may also be helpful to ask families about their concerns before sharing your observations. Finally, maintain a calm, understanding attitude.

MemberNovember 2, 2023 at 7:42 pmFrom the first interaction, make sure the parent sees you care about them as well as their child’s success. Continuously update the parents with new accomplishments and issues that arise every week. This will grow a stronger relationship between the educator and the parents.

Trust: Once trust is established, a positive relationship can deepen into one of shared decision-making, paving the way for positive conflict resolution. A good partnership between caregivers/parents and childcare providers is based on confidentiality, kindness, and respect. Open communication, positive communication, and involvement are also key elements.
