If you have something “negative” to share about a child’s day, sandwich it in with positive statements.

Respect and trust is important in ensuring a collaborative partnership with the families. And when talking about their children, point out both positive and negative behaviors/things you are noticing (not just the negative). Get to know the families and see if there are resources you can provide to help aid them in supporting their child(ren), it could even be helping them connect or communicate with other families of children in the same class. Remain positive and friendly and let families know that everyone develops at their own pace and that it’s okay.

My advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership between caregivers and childcare providers is to communicate openly and regularly. Sharing updates about the child’s day, asking for input, and listening to families’ concerns builds trust. It’s also important to show respect for each family’s values and culture and involve them in decisions about their child’s learning. Finally, being consistent, reliable, and approachable helps families feel confident that their child is supported and cared for.

Great insights, Marcy! Your emphasis on open communication and respect for family values is crucial for building trust.

-
My advice for creating and maintaining a good partnership between caregivers / parents and childcare providers is a positive and open communication. Caregivers need to listen to parents, seek to understand their goals and preferences for their children and respect cultural and family differences. Build collaborative partnerships based on respect and trust. Once trust is established, a positive relationship can deepen into one of shared decision-making, paving the way for positive conflict resolution and lasting partnership.

Great insights, Teopprecil! Emphasizing open communication and trust is essential for fostering strong partnerships with families.

Create a judge free environment and be open and honest about what is going on and if a problem exist allow a solution to be worked upon by both groups and find a way to show the parents and caregivers how that solution is being led while away from home.
-
Great insights, Johnette! Emphasizing open communication and collaboration fosters trust and strengthens the partnership between families and providers.
