Red flags in child development

I have picked the 3-4 year old’s because of personal experience. When I was in Pre-school, my mother was called in because I skipped on one leg then stepped with the other. Lots of concern about developmental issues. Nobody asked me why. It was faster and you can win the skipping race. Once I was asked to skip on both legs, I could. This has stuck with me, when thinking about Red Flags and Milestones.

It is important to be aware of things like when a 4 year old has trouble holding a crayon and doesn’t scribble. Or shows no interest in games with others or make-believe games. Speaks unclearly, and can’t follow 3 step directions. Plus if this child is Self-stemming (flapping his hands, has reputative behaviors) an assessment is suggested.
