The infant should sleep in his/her own designated approved sleep equipment. It can be a single level crib, infant bed, bassinet, or playpen. The mattress should be firm and touch all sides of the crib/bed to prevent infant from being trapped between it.

For a 2-month-old infant, the safest sleep equipment is designed to promote safe sleep practices and reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related incidents. Here’s the recommended sleep equipment: <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>Crib or bassinet: The crib or bassinet should have a firm, flat mattress that fits snugly without any gaps around the edges. It should meet current safety standards (e.g., no drop-side cribs).Ensure it has a tightly fitted sheet, and nothing else (no blankets, pillows, or toys) in the sleep space. <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>Sleep surface: The sleep surface must be firm to prevent suffocation. Avoid any soft mattresses, memory foam, or waterbeds. <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>Portable crib (pack ‘n play): A portable crib can be used as long as it has a firm, flat surface and meets safety standards. <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>No sleep positioning devices:mAvoid any devices like wedges, inclined sleepers, or positioners that claim to reduce reflux or help sleep. These are unsafe for unsupervised sleep. <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>Sleep sacks or wearable blankets: Instead of blankets, use a sleep sack or wearable blanket to keep the baby warm and safe without the risk of loose bedding.<strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>Flat on the back: Infants should always be placed on their back for every sleep, including naps and nighttime, until they can roll over on their own.

The safest place for an infant of 2 months to sleep is an infant bed, bassinet, crib (with a firm mattress), or a certified playpen. This decreases the risk of SIDS significantly!

I should put them in a crib or appropriate playpen with a single fitted sheet and no other items. There should be no bumpers, blankets, or toys present.

For a 2-month old infant, the safest sleep equipment includes a crib, bassinet, or portable play yard with a firm, flat mattress, a tightly fitted sheet, and nothing else in the sleep space like loose blankets, pillows, bumpers, or stuffed animals.

Single level crib or playpen. Firm mattress with fitted sheet, clean and designated bedding for every child. Never left to sleep in a swing or car seat, and always placed on their back.

For infants, an early learning provider must supply a single-level crib, playpen, or other developmentally appropriate sleep equipment. They must also be in a sleepsack as well.
