A single crib, with a firm mattress. There should not be space between the mattress and the crib frame.

MemberAugust 22, 2025 at 9:25 pmfor a 2 month old, i would use a crib, bassinet, or play yard that meets current safety standards. The sleep surface should be firm and flat, with a fitted sheet only. I would not use swings, car seats, couches, or inclined sleepers for regular sleep because they are not safe and increase the risk of suffocation.
-
Great response, Laisha! You emphasized safety and appropriate sleep surfaces, which are crucial for infants. Well done!

MemberAugust 23, 2025 at 6:35 pmFor a 2-month-old infant, the safest sleep equipment is a crib, bassinet, or approved play yard with a firm mattress and a fitted sheet. The sleep space should be free from blankets, pillows, toys, or bumpers. Infants should always be placed on their backs to sleep. Other items like swings, car seats, or couches are not safe for routine sleep.

A crib, bassinet, or other approved apparatus with a firm, flat mattress that leaves no gaps between the walls and the mattress, and only a fitted sheet.
-
For a 2-month-old infant, it is essential to use sleep equipment that meets safe sleep guidelines to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and suffocation. The use of appropriate sleep equipment like crib, bassinet or portable crib should be sturdy with no broken parts, loose hardware or missing slats. It must have firm and flat mattress, no extra items in the sleep area, right sleeping position and right sleeping clothes.
