You should use a firm, flat mattress in a safety-approved crib or bassinet with a fitted sheet. Avoid using pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals to reduce the risk of suffocation and ensure a safe sleep environment.

MemberSeptember 9, 2025 at 1:28 amFor a 2 month old infant, the safest sleep equipment is a firm, flat crib or portable crib that meets current safety standards. The crib should have a tight fitting sheet over a firm mattress, with no pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, bumper pads, or other soft items inside. Infants should always be placed on their backs to sleep, following the “Back to Sleep” guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. A safety approved bassinet or play yard can also be used as long as it meets the same standards. Swaddles or sleep sacks designed for infants can be used for warmth instead of loose blankets. Using proper sleep equipment helps reduce the risk of suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome while promoting safe, restful sleep.
