The person that had a significant early childhood is the preschool teacher who I work with because she is always loving and caring to the children even when she is stressed or upset with them. Another reason is because she is always kind and loving to me even when I do something wrong or need help with something. She is supportive to both the children and staff she is around. I learn a lot from her every day and try to use what I learn in my life.

After my daughter died, my older children went back to school and it was a very traumatic experience espeically for my older son who had just turned 10 at the time. His teachers worked with him and still smiled and comforted him when moments go to difficult. One teacher was excellent with him and he always talks about this teacher and goes to see him when he can. He also gets him something for Teacher Appreciation Week and Christmas.

I have a medically fragile family member. She spent a lot of time in the hospital and had to have home education for long stretches of time. She learned to love her teachers because of their kindness and encouragement to her during that time.

My guidance counselor in high school helped me get through a very abusive relationship with my stepmother. i will always be thankful for her and how she turned my life around for the best.

Working with different personnel in ECE, I have seen how they are greeting the children and parents. Some staff doesn’t bring the positive attitude in their classroom and the day goes by with difficult situations they are not able to handle. You have staff where the children doesn’t want to miss a day cause they enjoy their day and parent has trust with them.

I had a child that was very shy and had a difficult time entering the classroom. Her teacher was older and she was very kind, loving and always had a smile on her face and gave the best hugs. Everyday my child looked forward to seeing this teacher and when she did not see her she would not enter. This teacher greeted her students at the door every moring.

Right before Covid my sister had a teacher who made packets for her students and little books and activities for them to do since they would be out of school. She went to each of the students house to leave them their packets. Seeing the teacher go out of her way to make sure the students had work and things they could do and learn. I saw education very important and my sister saw that she went out of her way and appreciated the worksheets she had. This helps kids feel supported in their growth.

As a director I have had many children that I have taught throughout the years that enjoyed their experience so much that have come back and worked for me as teachers so they can make a difference in children’s lives

A teacher that had a significant impact in a positive way was a teacher that I had in elementary school. She was a teacher who listened to the children in class, let them be creative and was engaged with us. She was very thoughtful, kind and warm. She would expand our learning instead of just teaching at us.

I once had a friend whose father was in and out of prison for much of their childhood. Not having a proper relationship with their father led to psychological trauma as well as issues with personality, communication, and emotional development.

I myself had a wonderful yearly Childhood experience. I do not remember a lot about the toddler/preschool years but I can tell you wonderful magical memories I experienced. in Kindergarten and forward. I had teachers that invested in me as a person not just as a student. I remember my Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Reichstein and how she used a puppet at circle time every morning named Mr. Pea Mooney. He would pick all the leaders for the day and sing for your Birthday. I felt pretty special if he would talk just to me. The classroom had centers where we rotated through out the day. I remember bright colors, the playground and learning to take turns on the swings by standing in line and counting to 100. Those early years are so very impressionable and important. We need caring, compassionate individuals who want to make a difference in the littles around them. If you are one of these very important people? Thank you for ALL that you do!

When I was in 2nd grade, I had a wonderful experience in school. I had a teacher who was always smiling, giving hugs, and had a warm personality, who always welcomed all the students every single day. When we were struggling, she never yelled or seemed frustrated. She was always patient and kind. I was very ill when it was valentines day and she came to my house to deliver all the valentines from my peers. She made the environment in the classroom joyful and peaceful. We all knew she cared about each of us. This is the year that I decided I wanted to be a teacher. Her kindness and love of teaching shaped my career choice.
