Can you think of an example of a person who had a significant early childhood experience that impacted them in the future, whether good or bad?

GuestApril 10, 2025 at 9:00 pmMy son’s kindergarten teacher had such an incredible impact on his life. He loved her and she made him feel so welcome and comfortable in school. It was his first year in public school and he was nervous but she was such a warm and sweet person that gave him the confidence he needed to keep going each day.

GuestApril 11, 2025 at 4:47 pmI come from a large family and spent alot of time with extended family growing up. I was one of the older kids and looked after our younger family members. I knew when I actually grew up I wanted to be a childcare worker and make a difference in others life.

GuestApril 14, 2025 at 10:33 pmMy grandchildren are in Pre-K and have the most amazing teachers. My grandson cannot wait to get to school. He runs to them when he gets close to the gate to meet up with them. My granddaughter is also happy there. That means everything to me as a loved one that our children are happy when they are away from us.

GuestApril 15, 2025 at 12:30 amI had a child in preschool a number of years ago and she was a very timid and shy child. Before she even got to the door I bent down and handed her a flower and told her I very excited I was that she chose to come to my preschool to learn. That was all it took. From that point on we were the best of buddies and she wouldn’t let her timid or shyness get in her way of anything! She is now a preschool director and teacher of her own as well as a mom who is teaching her child what she learned so long ago.

GuestApril 15, 2025 at 11:34 pmMy early childhood was formed by my parents. Having 8 siblings, we had our own “group”. I have fond memories of doing special things with them, even if it was just making up skits or playing outside. I’ve tried to remember what it was like as a child while I am working with my students.
-
Great reflection, Lisa! Your experiences with your siblings will surely enrich your teaching and connect with your students.

GuestApril 16, 2025 at 8:37 pmA kindergartener was teased on the bus by the older elementary students. It set up a fear of being teased every day on the bus from that day on. The kindergarten teacher tried comforting the student but the child switched schools the following year.
-
Mary, your example highlights the long-lasting impact of negative experiences in early childhood. It’s crucial to foster a supportive environment.

GuestApril 18, 2025 at 2:55 amI remember when I was in elementary school, these girls were in a little click and boy were they mean. Their attitudes caused me to be a little fearful with interacting with other children in school. I actually carried this fear into my adult life, but eventually I grew past the fear and at some point in my a life, I found my worth.
-
Wanda, thank you for sharing your experience. It’s inspiring to see how you’ve overcome early challenges and discovered your worth!

GuestApril 24, 2025 at 7:52 pmI don’t remember many details about kindergarten, but I remember that my teacher was nice and warm and fun to learn from. If my preschoolers go home liking school, that’s a great start to their school journey.

GuestApril 25, 2025 at 5:58 pmAttitude is so important in life as a whole. It has been my misfortune to have had some educators in my life and my childrens that looked at child care and education as a task rather than a love and it felt that way when you were with them. Now that I am a child care provider I know how much my smile and mood affects young children and how they feel welcome and want to learn when they feel genuine affection!
-
Great insight, April! Your understanding of the impact of attitude and genuine affection in education is inspiring and vital for nurturing young learners.
