One of the kids was upset. I started singing a funny song and it cheered the child up and they were laughing.

During circle time, I did something that the class thought was hilarious. Instead of asking to be quiet straight away, I let the children laugh for a while. It allowed the children to have some freedom and explore their teachers sense of humor.

One time, during circle time, I used a silly voice while reading a story and made funny animal sounds when the characters appeared. The children laughed, copied the sounds, and became excited to participate in the story. Another example was during clean-up time when I sang a silly clean-up song and pretended the toys were “hiding” from being put away. The children laughed and joined in to help. These lighthearted moments helped create a fun and positive classroom atmosphere. The children felt more comfortable, were more willing to participate, and built a stronger connection with me. Using appropriate humor helped make daily routines more enjoyable while supporting children’s confidence and social-emotional development.

One time humor helped me connect with children was during a classroom activity when I used silly voices and playful expressions to make the children laugh and feel more comfortable. The children became more engaged and excited to participate because they saw that learning could be fun. These lighthearted moments helped create a positive classroom atmosphere where children felt safe, happy, and connected with their teacher and classmates. Using appropriate humor also helped build trust, encourage creativity, and make everyday activities more enjoyable for the children.
