Why is it important for all child care support staff to understand health and safety procedures, child abuse reporting requirements, and positive interactions with children, families, and coworkers? Share how these responsibilities contribute to a high-quality early learning environment.

Understanding health and safety procedures mitigates the spread of sickness and keeps kids safe. Reporting child abuse stops the abuse from continuting further. Having positive interactions with children, parents, and cowokers is important. The children are happy and look forward to being at the child care center. Parents are satisfied with our care.

Support staff should have full knowledge of the health and safety policies and procedures of childcare because they are equally responsible for children in their care. These staff members may not have designated room for they are the ones substituting, giving breaks and helping teachers in their rooms. So knowing each policy that relates to a child’s health and safety is as important to them as or designated classroom teachers.
