I like to let the child try to tell me how they feel first, then try and give their emotions words, such as “angry” or “frustrated”, and working though breathing exercises.

I believe so in the instant of an emergency, something unexpected happens, or if we need to follow policies on sickness.

A creative way to get children engaged is when playing in the play kitchen, asking them what they are cooking, playing along and asking them to make me something, suggesting ideas on what they should make, asking if they are using the oven or the microwave. Possibly even making them ‘recipe cards’ to follow with play food.

Observing and documenting a child’s growth will help you better understand them, their interests, and their developmental stage as well as if they are experiencing barriers with any stage of development. It can help us learn what to focus on with each individual child.
