GuestApril 23, 2024 at 5:04 amUsing multiple different songs or games could help in hand washing. Personally, I like to show them how to make bubbles with their fingers, and in the process showing them the harder you scrub, the more bubbles you can make. Using a favorite song, can also be useful.
-
We do a thing in our classroom called bubble blast handwashing. Add a drop of kid-friendly soap to each of their hands and challenge them to create as many bubbles as they can while washing. They’ll love the bubbly excitement, and it ensures they’re scrubbing thoroughly. Plus, who doesn’t love bubbles? It’s a win-win!
-
Kate, what a fantastic idea! Bubble blast handwashing sounds like a fun and effective way to encourage thorough scrubbing. Great job!

GuestMay 9, 2024 at 6:05 pmI love to create seasonal songs. for summer, fall, winter and spring. I like to take this part of the classroom routing as serious as possible. The children enjoy washing and watching their friends doing it this procedure.

GuestMay 16, 2024 at 7:58 pmIn a previous center I’ve worked in we had a handwashing song, to the tune of row row your boat that went like, “wash wash wash your hands, soap will make them clean…” that the kids liked, sometimes if they saw me washing my hands without singing the song they would remind me I’m supposed to sing!
-
I can make handwashing a fun and exciting activity for kids by making a game out of how many bubbles they can make with their hands. We can sing a fun song to hand our hands to in the right amount of time. I can also model how to wash hands to the other kids waiting in line.
-
Great ideas, Akiyo! Making handwashing a game with bubbles and a fun song is engaging. Modeling is also effective.

Encourage kids to sing and dance to upbeat, catchy handwashing songs. You can find many kid-friendly songs online or create your own silly tunes.
Handwashing challenges and games
Create a “handwashing bingo” game, where kids mark off different handwashing steps as they complete them.
