What advice would you give to other Early learning Providers who want to build connections with children in their classroom? The advice I would give to early learning provider who want to build connections with the children in their classroom is to make sure you are giving positive responses. MemberSeptember 26, 2025 at 9:20 pmMy best advice to other Early Learning providers when it comes to creating strong connections with the children in your care would be #1 get to know all about them. Ask about their families, how many siblings they have, what their favorite things are (color, animal, sports, songs, etc), what they like to do the most at school, what they did over the weekend. Children notice when you take genuine interest in learning about their lives and they love to share all about them. #2 kids are attracted to animated, excitable, and funny individuals like a magnet. Show them your authentic personality and they will feel more comfortable opening up their personalities for you to see too. #3 show that you care about what they are saying by using your body language. When they speak, look at them, nod, laugh, respond and validate that what they are talking about is important to you.

Great insights, Caitlyn! Building genuine connections through interest and authenticity truly fosters a supportive classroom environment.

To build connections with children, I’d say listen actively, be present, and respond to their interests and feelings. Spending one-on-one time or letting them lead activities helps them feel valued and understood. Being patient, consistent, and culturally aware also goes a long way in creating trust and strong bonds.

MemberOctober 2, 2025 at 7:41 pmI think it is always the best thing to build those relationships early on, and set yourself up well for the year. I think that doing greetings at the door, especially in those first 2 weeks to really make the child feel warm and welcome, helps loads. Doing fun group activities but also small activities to have some more 1 on 1 conversations can help build relationships through trust.
-
Great insights, Riley! Building relationships early and incorporating both group and individual activities fosters a welcoming classroom environment.
