Daily schedules are good for children because they will get used to the routine and know when to do what eventually. It is good to not change their schedule. A basic hourly schedule could be easy to work with.

I would start off with meals and snacks, then add in rest/nap time. After that I would ask the children if appropriate what they would like to do. Also I would think about if I am going to ask them to have an active period of listening time (story time or circle time) then just before have some gross motor time and burn off some energy before needing them to have more quiet focusing time.

While having a structured schedule is important, it’s also essential to be flexible when necessary. Unexpected events or changes may occur, so being adaptable to these situations is key to maintaining a positive daily routine. Communicate and share the schedule with children so that they know what to expect.

Think of your class as a whole and individual children when making your schedule. Observe your routines and see where the challenges are, adjust as needed. Have routines that are clear and constant, but also know that you need to stay flexible when working with children and at times it may benefit your class to adjust your schedule at times.

When making a daily schedule for children i think it is important to include them in it. Scheduling around meal time is a great start and then making sure you stick to that schedule and not changing it up all the time.

I try to have variety while still implementing a schedule. For example, we start the day by going outside but I will rotate the activity. We have three activity tables set up but the activities are rotated. So we stick to a specific schedule but the activities change.

When creating a schedule to make child habits and improve their attention. The schedule should be easy and accessible by children.

The biggest thing is making sure the other teachers in the classroom are willing and on board to help with the schedule as well. If it just you and the other teachers don’t like the schedule there will be a lot of confusion and hardship in the class. For creating a schedule, its going to take a few weeks to get in the grove of it but as long as you stay consistent it will be helpful. when you are troubleshooting the schedule that’s a good time change or try different orders but don’t take too long. Once you are able to keep the same schedule going it will make the day go by so much smoother.

Be consistent with the routine and provide the proper structure during activities such as space, tools, snacks, and a schedule (including outdoor fun and lunchtime).

I think that including the children in suggestions for the daily schedule would be a good idea.

Think about the time of day when you plan certain activities. For example, I would not plan something that involves large body movements and silliness right before nap time. Instead, I would schedule story time, or a quiet activity to get them settled down and ready to sleep. Also, be flexible with the schedule. Be willing to change your plans depending on the needs of the children.

I think setting a time for big things like breakfast, lunch, nap, and outside times first is a good idea. It should allow you to fill up the rest of the time with activities.
