I want to make sure my child is in a safe place, with prepared care providers, in a nice environment that should feel like a second home.

If I was a parent I would want my child’s provider to…
– Accept the child, provide a place where they can belong and feel loved for their unique qualities.
– Create an environment where a love of learning is cultivated
– Create an environment where my child can be socialized in a way that fosters empathy and compassion

If I was leaving my child in someone’s care I would be afraid that it was…
– A place that makes my child feel unwelcome or unwanted.
– A place that is unsafe.
– A place that does not prepare them for kindergarten.

If I were a parent of a young child, I would want my child’s provider to model appropriate feelings in the classroom, be attentive to their needs and ask meaningful questions, and to provide a safe environment where my child feels comfortable enough to explore and learn. The three fears I would have is an unsafe environment, one where the caregiver doesn’t meet my child’s needs, and a caregiver who models inappropriate feelings or ways to handle feelings.

2. Personally, I would be nervous about high turnover (no mainstays in my child’s life), harsh discipline (inappropriately personal attacks), and the overall safety of my child. It would be nice to have an understanding of the safety procedures surrounding a childcare facility.

a) My child is well cared for in-terms of attending to his basic needs like changing his diapers on time, ensure that he has eaten something in every meal and snack time and also nap well.
b) My child is kept clean at all times when he is away from home for long hours. For eg, his face should be clean without any dried up runny nose or soiled clothes and diaper should be clean when I pick my child.
c) He should be learning communication, rhymes and about his environment and world.
2. I am a parent of a young child and as I leave my two year old son at the childcare center everyday, my top most three fears are as follows
1. Will he be cared and nurtured well?
2. Will he be attended by the care provider immediately when he needs adult’s attention?
3. Will he be safe and protected by other children who may be hitting or biting?
