Forming relationships with those of differing perspectives can help our perspective shift. The key is to have an open and curious mind.

Everyone should respect others options and point of views. People can change their views. People around us can change our perspective on things. Life’s events can also change our perspective and views as well.

A multicultural education curriculum should be in place in every school.Strongly AgreeFamilies should not be expected to be involved in classroom activities.DisagreeAll learning programs should accommodate all children with special needs.Strongly AgreeSome extended family members may confuse children, so they should not have a voice in raising or educating the child.Strongly DisagreeMy curriculum should be based on each individual child’s current interests.DisagreeDiversity definitely includes race and culture, but doesn’t include age, ability or family make-up.Strongly DisagreeMedia in general delivers fair and accurate accounts of events around the country.DisagreeThe United States should discontinue relations with countries that engage in human rights violations.DisagreePOINT OF VIEWSome things that influence my way of thinking include my cultural and personal values, my family, religious beliefs, political alignment, and the media. While I believe that my personal morals and values call the shots on my decision-making and thoughts, the aforementioned items have helped to influence who I am.When people encounter interactions in which points of views clash, I often observe a bit of back-and-forth to get the other person to listen to the other point of view. This can be loud, exhausting, and can lead up to disputes. And that’s why people often respectfully agree to disagree or they take the time to simply listen to an opposing point of view. While I believe that many people are stubborn with their thinking and that it takes a lot to change their minds, it’s also very possible for us to change our views about something. This can happen with personal impacts (experience) and when more information or evidence comes out (knowledge). I think that it’s important to recognize that people can change their thinking or point of view and that’s why I believe it’s vital to be open-minded to hear about other points of views and be understanding with the shared goal of doing good.
