Creating and maintaining a good partnership between caregivers or parents and childcare providers really comes down to mutual respect, open communication, and consistency. It’s important to start building that relationship from the very beginning by showing families that their voices matter. Simple things like greeting them warmly at drop-off, sharing updates about their child’s day, and asking for their input on certain situations go a long way.

Advice for creating and maintain a good partnership between caregiver/parents and childcare provider would be try to be open and have clear conversation and try your best to let the parent know that you care for their child and are there to help them but also try to connect with the parent so they have some connection with you so they can trust you more with their child.

By checking in regularly with parents early-learning professionals can connect with family members well. It is also smart to tell parents important milestones connecting to the child.

Build mutual trust and respect, remembering parents know their child best and providers bring professional experience; communicate openly and regularly, welcoming questions and feedback; respect cultural and family values; and celebrate the child together by sharing successes, progress, and special moments.

To create and maintain relationships with caregivers, always emphasize how important the caregiver is, and make sure you are paying attention to if they need any additional resources.

allowing myself to be a step beneath the parents if that is what allows them to be the most receptive. Ive had parents where no matter what you told them, they wouldnt listen if they felt they were perceiving an equal footing with each other or believing me to be a better parent than them. My priority is to do what I need to get the communication through, so long as no one is being hurt, the parents and children leave safe and happy, then I`m okay letting some parents think less of me for the benefit of their child.
