What kind of sleep equipment should you use for a 2-month-old infant?
For a 2-month-old infant, you should use sleep equipment that follows safe sleep guidelines:
1. Crib or Bassinet: Use a crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards with a firm, flat mattress.
2. Fitted Sheet: Cover the mattress with a snugly fitted sheet, without any loose bedding.
3. No Extra Items: Avoid placing pillows, blankets, toys, or bumpers in the crib or bassinet to reduce the risk of suffocation.
4. Room Temperature: Ensure the baby is dressed appropriately for the room temperature, using a wearable blanket or sleep sack if needed.
5. Proper Placement: Always place the baby on their back to sleep to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

You should have a crib with a firm mattress and fitted sheet making sure there are no blankets or fabrics in close proximity in the crib. The only thing that could be acceptable would be a Velcro swaddle until the infant is able to roll-over.

Good suggestion, Zanyah! A firm mattress in a crib ensures safety and proper support for a 2-month-old infant.

MemberDecember 18, 2024 at 9:40 pmthe 2 month old infant should be sleeping in a single crib with a firm flat mattress. They may not be swaddled or have any pillows/ blankets in the crib. There must not be a gap between the mattress and the crib wall. If the infant has a binky and it falls out of their mouth, it must be removed from the cribspace.

Great response, Mia! You’ve highlighted key safety guidelines for infant sleep, emphasizing a secure and safe environment.

MemberDecember 19, 2024 at 9:15 pmA 2 month old should sleep in a crib, bassinet or portable play yard with a firm, flat mattress and a fitted sheet. Avoid sleep on a couch or armchair or in a seating device, like a swing or car safety seat (except while riding in the car). Keep loose blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, bumpers and other soft items out of the sleep space.
