My last two jobs are great examples of facilities that need written guidance. I have my teaching certificate for Montessori education, an almost completed bachelor’s degree, experience working with two different schools, and the behaviors of children still take me aback. Sometimes, they need boundaries to be set very early on. And in exceptional circumstances, I’m taken aback by a child’s reaction to the point I’m at a loss for how to handle the situation differently. An example is when a child is in “play mode” on the playground and is being inappropriate towards others by throwing, hitting, spitting, etc. It comes with the territory of working with children, but I would be lost entirely if I had no written policies because most situations are case-by-case.

Having a clear policy on how to handle things like misbehavior and accidents would help all adults be on the same page on how to handle things and not confuse the children
