MemberMay 8, 2024 at 6:11 am<div>If I were giving a prospective parent a tour, the safety procedures I would highlight are the exit plan, the handwashing protocol and cleaning/ sanitation procedures. I would also show them where we keep the emergency contacts, health and allergy information of each child, and how we keep attendance throughout the day. I would tell them where we keep the medications and first aid kit, including emergency aid. </div>

Akiyo,
Your response is very comprehensive and covers all the important safety procedures that parents would want to know about. It’s great that you’ve highlighted the exit plan, handwashing protocol, cleaning/sanitation procedures, emergency contacts, health and allergy information, attendance tracking, and the location of medications and first aid kit. This shows that you are mindful of the various aspects of safety that are important in a childcare program. Well done!

It’s great that you would highlight how you are keeping the children safe during the tour. It would be helpful to provide specific details about the safety procedures and measures implemented in your program, such as staff-to-child ratios, secure entry and exit procedures, emergency preparedness plans, and safety protocols for outdoor play areas. This will give prospective parents a clear understanding of the comprehensive safety measures in place.

MemberMay 13, 2024 at 4:12 pmIf I were going to give a prospective parent a tour I would highlight the safety features in the classrooms. Like safe designated areas for medications and other high risk items. I would also be sure to tell them about the safety protocols we have in place regarding emergencies. I would give them an idea of what rules we have in place to protect the kids.

MemberMay 19, 2024 at 8:56 pmAs I walk the parent through our program, I would first start with our securities in place to keep the children safe such as the door bell we use for all visitors, all doors with access to outside remain locked at all times. All teachers and staff wear badges to inform who they are, children are signed in and out by an adult dropping off or picking up and what our procedures for pick up/ drop off are. Next we would move through to the class rooms/ outside play area and show the safety features of the class room for example toys are located where children can safely reach them, all cabinets within children’s reach are locked, we clean and sanitize our class rooms every day show we have an allergy list available to all teachers, outside all equipment is at a safe level, all doors to the outside play area are locked, ect. and then I would show them where the bathrooms are located and what our system is so that no child is by themselves and answer any questions they may have.
-
Laura’s response is comprehensive and thorough. She effectively highlights the various safety procedures in place to keep the children safe in the program. She covers important aspects such as visitor access control, staff identification, sign-in/out procedures, classroom safety features, cleanliness and sanitation, allergy management, outdoor equipment safety, and bathroom procedures. Her approach provides a clear and reassuring overview for prospective parents, emphasizing the program’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the children in their care.

MemberMay 20, 2024 at 12:27 amI would highlight our staff to child ratio ensuring their child will be well watched over, I would show that we keep all of our cleaning agents and chemicals in a locked closet, any stairs we have are blocked off with a child safety gate, our age-appropriate toys
that don’t have pieces that younger kids could swallow, our snack table cleaning procedures, and our first aid kit is easily accessible. -

MemberMay 21, 2024 at 3:45 pmI think some things you can point out for example are your evacuation plans with routes labelled in case of a fire or other emergency, and where your first aid supplies can be found. You can also talk about other safety policies in place.
-
Rachelle, you made some excellent points about highlighting safety procedures during a program tour. It’s important to mention the evacuation plans with clearly labeled routes for emergencies, as well as the location of first aid supplies. Additionally, discussing other safety policies in place will provide prospective parents with a comprehensive understanding of the safety measures in the program. Well done!

MemberMay 23, 2024 at 2:15 amI would begin by welcoming the family to the classroom, then give them a tour of the classroom. Depending on the classrooms location I would then point out the exit/entrance, bathroom, and the myriad of safety precautions we have put into place to keep their child safe. For example keeping items out of reach of children, behind closed doors, and locked away such as medication.
-
Lalitha, it’s great to see your focus on safety during the tour. You’ve mentioned important safety measures such as keeping items out of reach and locked away. This demonstrates your commitment to creating a safe environment for the children in your care. In addition to what you’ve mentioned, you could also highlight other safety procedures such as emergency evacuation plans, staff CPR and first aid training, and hygiene protocols. Overall, your response shows a good understanding of the importance of safety in a childcare setting. Well done!

The cleaning and safety ones for sure. I would show what emergency plans we have in plan, the training our employees have, etc. I would also explain how many times a day we sanitize the surfaces.
-
I will give the family a warm and happy welcoming, then give them a tour of the classroom. and passing through classrooms i will point out the exit/entrance, bathroom, and the all the safety precautions.
-
Lei, it’s great that you plan to give families a warm and welcoming experience during the tour. When highlighting safety procedures, you might want to specifically mention how you ensure supervision in play areas, emergency evacuation plans, and any specific safety measures you have in place for different age groups. This will help reassure parents about the safety of your program and show them that you have a comprehensive approach to keeping their children safe.
