if l were giving a prospective parent a tour, l would highlight our safety-in and check-out, constant supervision, safe sleep practices, and regular health and safety checks. l would also explain how we handle emergencies, medication storage, and sanitation storage, and sanitation to prevent illness. mots importantly, l would reassure families that children’s safety and well-being are always our top priority.

If I were giving a parent a tour, I would highlight our clean and organized classrooms, daily sanitizing routines, and safe storage of materials. I would explain our secure drop-off and pick-up procedures, constant staff supervision, and emergency plans. I would also share our handwashing, illness reporting, and medication safety practices to show how we protect children’s health every day.

If a parent came to visit my program, here’s what I’d want them to know about keeping their child safe:
1. Who can pick up their childI’d explain that we only release children to people on the approved list. No exceptions. If your name isn’t on that paper, you don’t take the kid. Parents love knowing this.
2. How we watch the kids at all timesI’d show them there’s always an adult in the room. No leaving kids alone. We count heads all day long—going outside, coming inside, before nap, after nap. We always know where every child is.
3. Where we keep dangerous stuffI’d point out that cleaning supplies, medicines, and anything sharp are up high and locked away. Kids can’t reach them.
4. What we do if someone gets hurtI’d tell them we have first aid kits ready and we’re trained on what to do. Bumps and scrapes happen. We’re prepared.
5. How we handle sick kidsI’d explain that if a child feels sick, we call right away. We keep sick kids comfortable and separate until a parent comes. We also clean toys and surfaces all day long to keep germs from spreading.
6. Practice drillsI’d let them know we practice fire drills and other safety drills so kids know what to do without being scared.
7. Stranger safety outsideIf we go outside or on walks, I’d explain how we keep kids close, count heads, and watch for anything unsafe.
The main thing I’d want parents to feel is:Your kid will be watched. Your kid will be safe. And if anything worries me, you’ll be the first to know.

When showing a parent around my childcare facility I would definitely want them to feel like their child is safe and secure in my care. So I would highlight all the ways we secure the facility and keep things safe. Such as, locks on all exits, safety gates, child locks, outlet covers, padding on sharp corners, etc. Then I would highlight cleanliness and hygiene. Show them how we clean our surfaces and toys and show them our handwashing station. And then I would make sure to explain to them about ratios and how we keep active child supervision.
