MemberJuly 29, 2023 at 2:06 amWhen the children in my class are playing with the purses and bags for example, I expand on it by asking where they are going, what they are going to buy from the store, and model examples of things their parents would say when leaving the house. Ask leading questions or provide commentary to what they are doing

One thing i try to do is lesson plan surrounding what the children in my care are showing interest in.If me class has recently been noticing for example butterflies outside and asking questions about them, i may design a lesson plan around the butterfly life cycle.

MemberAugust 2, 2023 at 7:53 pmI would first get to know the children and see what interests them, so that as I plan lessons I can build upon those interests. I would use hands on learning so students can learn in a tactile way. I would also use books and targeted questions to engage with the students so they are responding to visual cues as well as learning to speak and articulate what they are learning.

For example, if a some of the children are really interested in playing with the firetrucks, we could read a story about firefighters and how they help people, and use their interest to make firedrills less scary by explaining how it’s practice so the firefighters can help us if we ever need them to.

MemberAugust 4, 2023 at 5:21 pmAs children move through their daily routines and activities engaging with appropriate materials, caregivers should help children understand the world around them.
Caregivers can increase children’s language acquisition by asking meaningful questions and adding information to extend children’s learning. Meaningful questions invite children to wonder, and to respond with more than a simple “yes” or “no.” Questions can help them learn to solve problems and think critically about what they are engaged in.

MemberAugust 5, 2023 at 5:33 pmI love making letters out of nature. So going outside and gathering sticks and such, then making the letter shapes by laying them out on the ground. It was really fun. Another one is anything arts and crafts. Kids love using spray bottles so filling them with food dye water, paint or whatever else will come out will allow them to get creative with their painting. Frozen ice with food dye for babies and little toddlers is another one we loved. They can paint but also if they eat it it wont hurt them.

When children engage in creative learning it is important to observe, but also be a part of it. Something that I have done in the past is engaged in play dough work. when a child is making something ill ask them to explain what they are doing and listen to how in-depth they go. This is a great way to get kids to be creative with what they are working on.

1.Thematic Learning
Plan activities around a specific theme, such as animals, outer space, or community helpers. This approach integrates various subjects and keeps children curious.
2. Storytelling Adventures
Use storytelling to create imaginative learning experiences. Let children contribute to the story, sparking their creativity and language skills.
3. Science Experiments
Simple experiments like making a volcano erupt or creating rainbow reflections can introduce scientific concepts in a hands-on and exciting way.
4. Outdoor Exploration
Take learning outdoors. Use nature walks to observe plants, insects, and weather patterns. Allow them to ask questions and explore.
5. Artistic Expression
Encourage children to express themselves through art, music, and drama. This fosters creativity, communication, and emotional development.
6. Cooking Activities
Involve children in simple cooking projects. They learn about measurements, ingredients, and teamwork while having fun.
7. Interactive Technology
Use educational apps and interactive learning games to make learning enjoyable while building cognitive skills.
8. Virtual Field Trips
Explore museums, historical sites, or far-off places through virtual tours, allowing children to experience the world from home.
9. Puzzle Challenges
Offer puzzles and brain-teasers that challenge problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
10.Community Involvement
Connect learning to the local community by visiting fire stations, libraries, or inviting guest speakers to share their expertise.
11. Role Play
Provide dress-up clothes and props for imaginative play that allows children to explore different roles and scenarios.
12. Project-Based Learning
Engage children in a project they’re passionate about, encouraging research, planning, and presentation skills.

MemberAugust 15, 2023 at 11:12 pmWhen children are playing in the kitchen area, I get them engaged by asking what they are cooking or suggesting a variety of things they can cook for me. When they are in the book area, I have them choose a book, read it to them, then have them “read” it back to me. I also ask questions about details they see in the book that might not be mentioned in the story.
