MemberAugust 30, 2023 at 9:43 pmI think some creative ways to get children engaged in active, meaningful learning are to make it fun. One could use music to make a hard subject more interesting or turn it into a craft or sensory activity. I think also when we have a positive attitude about a tough subject the kids pick up on that and are more likely to be engaged.

MemberSeptember 2, 2023 at 4:27 amOne way to get kids engaged in meaningful learning activities is to structure those activities around a child’s interest. For example if you know students really like construction vehicles have students build towers a certain amount of blocks high and then have the student knock them over with a construction vehicle. Try 2 blocks high, 3 blocks high, 4 blocks high.

MemberSeptember 6, 2023 at 5:20 pmIt’s important to ask complex questions instead of the simple “yes” or “no” questions. Inviting them to find out and letting them question, think, reason, and experiment to get to an answer. It helps develop language but also gets their creativity and critical thinking skills working. Another way to get children involved in meaningful learning is we could for example teach about fruits and vegetables. We can ask questions about what fruits and vegetables they’ve seen and tasted and then incorporate those as well as some that they have never tried. We can also incorporate food from other cultures and places to help them expand their knowledge on foods and culture. Another way we could use fruits and veggies in a lesson plan is we can have them cut the fruits and vegetables in different shapes and show them how you can create your own shapes and designs. I feel like these few things can create an engaging learning environment for young children.

MemberSeptember 10, 2023 at 8:10 pmIn my opinion, now many children are interested in video games, so I believe that it is important to teach children to play outdoor games, to play group games outdoors, and to read books in the classroom and, based on the plot of the books, come up with sequels together and present them in the game (for example , finger puppets).

MemberSeptember 11, 2023 at 7:54 pmOne fun activity I seen done in a preschool classroom is where the children collected fallen leaves around September. The teachers asked them questions why do think the leaves are falling from the trees? Do the leaves look exactly alike. How do they feel to when you touch them? Look at the colors and the shapes of the leaves. After collecting theor own leaves they take them in the classroom and hang them up to dry for a few days. Then they do an art project where they can glue, paint, decorate, or how ever they choose on construction paper. Also the teachers reads books during story circle time about things that have to with Fall. They make a theme week.

MemberSeptember 13, 2023 at 12:36 amOne creative way to get children engaged in active, meaningful learning is through hands-on activities and projects that align with their interests. For example, you could create a science experiment where they can explore and discover how things work. Another idea is to incorporate games and interactive technology that promote learning in a fun and engaging way. Additionally, incorporating movement and physical activity into learning, such as through outdoor exploration or dance, can make the experience more enjoyable and interactive for children.

MemberSeptember 13, 2023 at 4:48 pmI think one of the best ways to get them engaged is to make sure that whatever activity or lesson you are doing it is centered around things that your kids are extremely interested in, this draws them in, a teacher should also be asking questions to the children while they are doing an activity.

Engaging children in active, meaningful learning can be a wonderfully creative endeavor. Incorporating hands-on activities that allow children to explore and discover, such as science experiments or art projects, can captivate their curiosity and enthusiasm. Storytelling and imaginative play encourage creativity and language development. Utilizing technology in a controlled and educational manner, like interactive apps or virtual field trips, can also make learning exciting. Outdoor activities that involve nature exploration, gardening, or physical games provide a multi-sensory learning experience. Most importantly, fostering a warm and encouraging atmosphere where children are free to ask questions, experiment, and express themselves is crucial for active and meaningful learning.
