I like to also have activities that engage different senses like touch, taste, smell and sound. so implementing some music, movement is also something they really enjoy.

Great ideas, Viridiana! Engaging multiple senses and personal experiences fosters connection and enhances meaningful learning for children.

Whether it’s digging in the sand, painting with fingers, or building block towers, hands-on activities make learning real and memorable.Storytime with a Twist<strong data-start=”416″ data-end=”443″>: Bring stories to life by acting them out, using puppets, or creating art based on the tale. Lliane, your suggestions beautifully highlight the importance of hands-on experiences and creativity in learning. Great work!

Utilizing the child’s own hobbies/interests, or significant moments in the child’s life like having a new sibling, going on vacation, etc. Another is simply showing your own genuine enthusiasm for learning.
-
To help engage children in meaningful learning you must ask then questions and let them come up with the answers. Help them learn to problem solve instead of just giving them information. Having group discussions at circle time and asking children open ended (not yes/no) questions while they play also helps.
-
Great insights, Róisín! Encouraging open-ended questions fosters critical thinking and collaboration among children. Keep promoting those discussions!

Great insights, Mila! Encouraging curiosity fosters deeper engagement and meaningful learning. Asking relatable questions is key!

Some creative way to help children get engaged in learning activity is get invested in it and do the activity yourself with them yet pick up the pace at which you do it.. and have the whole task completed in stages on a card stock and add boarder board to each stages that pops or jumps out at the kids but don’t show them the stages until you have begun that part of the curriculum with them and surprise them if you can by having your pre-made stages of the project with flashy board appear quick or briskly once they have already begun… and show actual eagerness to see what they come up with.
-
Great ideas, Marie! Engaging with children actively and using surprise elements can truly enhance their learning experience.

Unique art projects, games, creating a play production, writing a song.

This can include for an infant to play with texture blocks or busy boards that offer a variety of materials and objects. For older kids this could look like activities during circle time or pretend play as a large groups.

MemberJune 12, 2025 at 4:52 am– Make the activity fun by spending time with the child going something they’re interested in. – Allow children to self lead activity’s to they learn how to do it themselves and not always feel l8ke someone is telling them what to do and how to do it.
-
Great insights, Bronwyn! Encouraging child-led activities fosters independence and makes learning enjoyable and relevant. Keep it up!

-
Ask the children to show you what they are working on, involve them with helping you if they can and would like to, encourage them to share their work with their friends and to do activities with friends. Bringing in new materials or introducing a new activity like a new art project can engage them more meaningfully.
-
Great insights, Ruby! Involving children in sharing and collaborating enhances their learning experience and fosters creativity.

MemberJune 16, 2025 at 8:33 pmI love seeing where their interest lies that day in the toys and interacting with them in an imaginative and silly manner through questions. For example, if one is holding a plastic hammer, I might ask if they are aiming to fix something. We’ll converse on what needs fixing and experiment on different toys and even shoes, while also commenting on things that don’t need fixing. I love having conversations with them that put them at the front of exploring what they want to do next.
-
Great insights, Audrey! Engaging children through imaginative play and meaningful conversations fosters their creativity and critical thinking. Keep it up!
