MemberJune 17, 2025 at 8:10 pmTo get children engaged I tend to start with a song. Most commonly we start with ABC’s, this is during circle time. Starting a song all together gets the children excited and ready to participate. I also think asking them questions and positive reinforcement can truly help with engagement.
-
Ask them open-ended questions so they can think about their answers, and observe what activities they favor, or what their caregivers say they favor to encourage them to engage in activities
-
Great suggestions, Grace! Open-ended questions truly foster critical thinking, and observing interests helps tailor engaging activities effectively.

Engage their senses through activities like experiments, outdoor exploration, and storytelling with props. Encourage them to ask questions, explore their interests, and participate in creative projects like building, writing, or artistic endeavors.

Great insights, Rushitha! Your emphasis on hands-on activities and real-world connections truly enhances children’s engagement and curiosity in learning.

MemberJune 19, 2025 at 8:17 pmI would say to allow them to make rules that they all agree upon! This helps with keeping the environment of the classroom sane and that they can tell other kids about the agreed rules such as clean up after you play etc.
-
Great suggestion, Kyler! Involving children in rule-making fosters ownership and responsibility, enhancing their engagement and classroom harmony.

-
Great insight, Maria! Hands-on, sensory activities truly enhance engagement and promote meaningful learning experiences for children.

-
Asking more complex questions or connecting activities back to what their particular interests are
-
Great insights, Megan! Connecting activities to children’s interests truly enhances engagement and fosters deeper understanding. Keep it up!

-
Some creative ways to get children to engage to learning could by having the kids move to learn so they can use their hands and body to learn. Another way is to maybe make it competitive but only a little, so the kids try to beat you to but also learn while trying to beat you.
-
Great ideas, Raymundo! Incorporating movement and friendly competition can really enhance engagement and make learning enjoyable!

MemberJune 21, 2025 at 10:50 pmThe activity should match the age group and ability level of the children. For example, you wouldn’t do a full arts and crafts activity with infants. Utilizing sensory input can help stimulate interest like sand boxes and water tables.
-
Great points, Emily! Tailoring activities to age and ability enhances engagement, and sensory experiences are excellent for stimulating curiosity.

MemberJune 22, 2025 at 10:26 pmOne way to get children engaged in active and meaningful learning is by showing your interest in the activity. Show the activity, ask them questions, and play with them, this will show the child the value of this learning and the importance of the activity.
-
Great insights, Caitlin! Your emphasis on adult engagement and questioning highlights how modeling enthusiasm enhances children’s learning experiences.
