OBSERVING AND DOCUMENTING A CHILDS PROGRESSION IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT HELPS US UNDERSTAND WHAT ASPECTS THEY HAVE TROUBLE WITH AND WHAT THEY’RE SUCCEEDING IN. IT ALSO HELPS ME UNDERSTAND WHAT ELSE I CAN DO TO BETTER IF THEY ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH A CERTAIN ENGAGEMENT

Observing and documenting a child’s development allow early learning providers to ensure that the lesson plan and activities meet a child’s needs and if they need to change parts to better suit the child. If documentation can be shared (confidentially of course) it will give any future ELPs a better understanding of a child when they come into the classroom.

    Observation and documentation helps to:

    1. Meet a child where they’re currently at in the development continuum.

    2. Design curriculum that will engage, challenge and solidify development.

    3. Track the progress of development, so that the curriculum can be updated as needed and provide progress encouragement to the child and family.

Observing and documenting development helps identify areas where the child may need more help or help identify red flags. It also helps if these observations are in portfolios as the child moves into a new classroom as they age and grow so that the new teacher can know where the child is developmentally.

Observing and documenting a child’s development help early learning providers by being able to strategize and implement individual curriculums and developmentally appropriate practices for each child.

Observation and recording a child’s development allows a provider to track and share a child’s growth as well as guide the child through learning activities to help them develop.

Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers to assess the child’s needs, the effectiveness of the program, and to build an effective program. Observation and documentation of children’s development gives providers perspective into each child’s needs, achievements, and challenges which allows them to implement new practices, skills, activities, etc. to better meet every child’s needs.

Observing and documenting a child’s development helps early learning providers because it helps us understand the behavior, level of development, and learning processes of the child. With this information we can apply our efforts to get the best quality of care and education for the child.

Observations and documentation of a child’s development can be used as a form of assessment to identify the child’s strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement. This information can be used to make individualized learning plans and to track a child’s progress over time.

Observing a child helps a provider know where the child is struggling, where the child needs extra help with, where they excel.

it helps them keep track of the child’s development to make sure if the child is making good progress. By observing and tracking this they can also develop a better understanding of how to properly care for the child.

Each child is unique. By observing the children one at a time and discovering important details about them – their personality, how they get along with peers, temperament, and so much more – we as teachers will better know how to help support and care for the children. We will better understand each child’s needs and how to help them to reach their full potential.

Observing and documenting a child will help an early learning provider learn the strengths and weaknesses a child has in their development. This allows the provider to create lesson plans that can cater to those strengths and weaknesses.

When you know where a child is in their development, you know what you need to do to help them succeed. They may need help with a specific hurdle, or an accommodation in the classroom. Every child is different and needs individual attention.
