after going through the WACs, I realized how much they are mean to protect children and guide us in everyday situation, I wasn’t shocked by rules, but I didn’t expect them to be so detailed and connected to daily routine. It makes sense now how following the WACs helps keep children safe and support better decision-making in real childcare settings.

I wasn’t really surprised at any of those WACs but its nice to have it be accessible on line and be able to to go through and read some of the other WACs. It definitely will influence my day to day practice because if I have any concerns I know where to check if i have any questions or concerns.

So while doing the activity, I found out the WACs are pretty specific about who needs a license and what the rules are. I was surprised that even if you watch kids in your home, you still need a license if they’re not related to you or you watch preschool kids for more than 4 hours. And yeah, the WACs will definitely affect how I do things every day because they’re basically the rules for keeping kids safe and making sure the program runs right. It helps me know what I’m supposed to do and what’s expected

    1. I discovered that the rules cover everything from health and safety to how we interact with families and guide children’s behavior. It’s more detailed than I expected—things like diapering, supervision, meal times, and even screen time all have specific guidelines. I also learned that the WACs emphasize building respectful relationships with families and supporting each child’s individual needs.2. Yes, I was surprised by how specific some rules are, like restrictions on certain items for water play, requirements for sleep positions for infants, and the detailed steps required before a child can be expelled. It showed me how much thought and care goes into protecting children and supporting their development. I didn’t realize there were so many rules about things like playground surfaces or how to handle food allergies.3. Definitely. They remind me that the little things I do every day—washing my hands at the right times, counting children during transitions, how I talk to children and families—aren’t just routines, they’re professional responsibilities. Knowing the rules helps me understand the “why” behind my actions and do my job better. It also gives me confidence that I’m providing a safe and nurturing environment. I plan to keep a copy nearby and review it now and then so I stay on track as I learn and grow in this role.
