MemberApril 13, 2025 at 3:08 pmWAC 110-300-0085 has set requirements with the need for providers to communicate with families and obtain information about children and then determine how they will be able to accommodate individual needs that ensure a diverse and inclusive environment. The big message WACs give about diversity and collaboration is the emphasis on providing an environment that is culturally and racially diverse to ensure an equal learning opportunity and encouraging families to share their language and culture in the program and provide contact incase questions arise or concerns.

MemberApril 13, 2025 at 10:01 pm110-300-0160 the WAC encourage teachers to provide diversity the classroom through toys, and offerings like music and stories. The teacher should discourage any type of talk or discussion that is insensitive to diversity and be aware of and discourage any type of cultural biases. This applies to the adults as well as the children.

MemberApril 15, 2025 at 12:03 amThere are WACs in place that specifically describe the importance of diverse learning opportunities in a provider’s curriculum, activities, and materials that are representative of the children and their families. The big message regarding diversity and collaboration is that we want to make sure we are doing whatever we can to keep our children safe and make them feel welcome

MemberApril 15, 2025 at 9:44 pmWAC Chapter 110-300 addresses diversity and collaboration with families. early learning providers must appreciate the cultural, linguistic, and family diversity of enrolled children. Children must also feel valued and supported.
-
Great insights, Jack! Emphasizing appreciation for diversity fosters an inclusive environment where every child feels valued.

The WACs that identify diversity would be WAC 110-300-0160 which promotes the acceptance of diversity. It states that an early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities.

Great observation, Pearl! Highlighting WAC 110-300-0160 emphasizes the importance of inclusive practices in early learning environments.

I have trouble replying to the main post, so I just replied to someone to get my answer out there:Looks like WACs 110-300 0055 and 0065 and for Nondiscrimination it’s WAC 110-300-0030. The big ideas are around diversity, collaboration, and cultural openness.

MemberApril 22, 2025 at 6:02 pmWAC makes sure to highlight the importance of collaboration, and promotes acceptance.

Great insight, Shytan! Emphasizing collaboration and acceptance truly fosters a more inclusive learning environment.

WAC 110-300-0030 is about nondiscrimination. This inadvertently addresses diversity. The WACs explicitly make it clear how discrimination based off race or other identities someone may hold isn’t permitted. they also use language and description which is centered around ANY child and has a clear goal of the childs best care regardless of anything else.
-
Great insights, Miriam! You effectively highlighted how WAC 110-300-0030 promotes inclusivity and prioritizes every child’s well-being.

1. WAC 110-300-0085 says addressing importances of communication with families, obtaining relevant information about each child including cultural, linguistic, and social aspects, and accommodating individual needs. WAC 110-300-0160 says promoting an accepting diversity within the program, includes diversity among the children, families, and staff. It affects the use of equipment and materials that also reflects diversity. 2. A childcare program that doesn’t value diversity or respect it will leave a negative impact on the environment. Creating diversity opens doors for children to learn and grow. Children being opened minded about where other children come from is such an important thing. Us as childcare providers we should learn and teach.

Great insights, Liliana! Your understanding of WAC highlights the importance of communication and embracing diversity in childcare.
