GuestDecember 27, 2025 at 9:22 pmI think one of the most important things to look for, is how do they work with other adults. Working with kids, although not always easy, is sometimes easier than other adults. Staff community and collaboration is a bid deal for our school. Teachers can be trained to teach, but to work with coworkers and be accountable for their actions is another thing. I also need to look for people who are willing to learn, get more training, and receive constructive feedback without putting up walls.

Great insights, Samantha! Collaboration and openness to feedback are indeed crucial for fostering a positive learning environment.

GuestDecember 30, 2025 at 1:44 amWe assess for flexibility, and we try to figure out their philosophy of childcare. Do they understand they are teachers, do they understand where behaviors come from, do they understand how to deal with certain behaviors, do they understand child development, etc. These help us understand if the person will fit with our center’s philosophy or not.

GuestDecember 31, 2025 at 8:13 amI believe qualities for a successful early childhood educator first must have experience with children before with a desire to continue to develop their talents so they already know and decided this would be the career they want to focus on. Then the other essential qualities would be a willingness to learn, able to give clear communication, and a love and passion for their work.
-
Great insights, Kevin! Your emphasis on experience and passion truly highlights the foundation of effective early childhood education.

GuestApril 30, 2026 at 9:23 pmWe look for candidates who give us insightful answers. We really focus on scenerio questions based off “what would you do in x situation” we don’t necessarily have a right or wrong answer in mind but helps us with their thought process in scenario and helps us decide if they have the skill set. Our scenario questions are based off real life scenarios we see at the center frequently

Great insights, Jessica! Scenario-based questions truly reveal candidates’ critical thinking and real-world application skills.
