I agree. every child is different in their needs when it comes to arts and crafts. some need extra help and others thrive better in independence.

Depending on the group of children that you have and their needs the teacher may find it more tricky.

Valentine’s Day began long ago to honor Saint Valentine, who showed love and kindness to others. Back then, it was more about caring acts and thoughtfulness than giving gifts. Today, we celebrate by sharing love and appreciation with friends, family, and special people through cards, flowers, and little treats.

We can acknowledge Columbus Day by teaching history accurately, including both Columbus’s journey and its impact on Indigenous peoples. One way to be culturally sensitive is to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead, focusing on honoring Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contributions. Activities like stories, crafts, or songs about Indigenous peoples can help children learn respect, empathy, and appreciation for diversity while still understanding history.

We can talk about Columbus and his journey, but it’s also important to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This honors Native Americans, their cultures, and the way they have cared for the land for a very long time. Learning both helps us understand history and remember to be kind and respectful to everyone

A prepared environment allows students to see their space in a non-stressful way. When they walk into a cluttered, busy space with toys and activities piled on each other, it can be overwhelming and difficult for a child to choose where to start. A simple, prepared environment lets the student see clearly what is available to do and allows them to choose easier. A prepared environment also shows a student an expectation of order, calm, and respect for the environment and works.

I think Montessori’s methods definitely help children grow academically. I think learning as their own pace is only questionable because of the time rages but Maria’s beliefs in Montessori’s methods were to have the education adapt to the child. In my experiences I’ve also had a lot of parents show appreciation to these methods and routines, they’ve said their child’s social skills, home life and confidence has improved drastically.

The Montessori prepared environment is helpful and better than a traditional school environment because it not only provides hands on activity but also a child centric learning techniques. It helps children to learn on their own pace which helps in boosting self esteem and progress. In Montessori the classroom environment is prepared as per the observation and need of a children whereas in Traditional classroom it was more on Teacher ideology and directions which all children has to complete with in a given time frame. In my past Traditional school, I have experienced the class room was more worked on teachers instruction, the lecture and projects were driven as per teacher’s time frame and their own process of teaching. whereas in my current Montessori school the class is prepared for child centric approach. keeping all Montessori basic, fundamentals, concepts and approach which helps each individual to grow on its own pace.

I think it actually takes the pressure off of the children and eases a feeling of inadequacy. Allows them the ability to grow in leaps and bounds on subjects, they thrive in and are interested in. While showing them places they might have to work a little harder or figure out ways they understand it better boosts confidence in their abilities. I can see how a child with ADD or ADHD might struggle staying focused but I think that’s where the teacher could really support the students. I find it hard to not take over situations sometimes. So I might struggle staying out of it to let them figure it out. We are all a work in progress.

A Montessori environment encourages independence by giving children the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace, while teachers guide gently without taking over.

Working on arts and crafts Module. I’m suppose to explain how to balance Columbus day in an cultural sensitive way. I don’t know how to explain the giant lie about Columbus finding America. Indigenous people were already there. Leif Erikson discovered it and the people later.

I think letting them go at themselves but watching them and seeing if the need help can work. Some may need more help then others so guiding them sitting with them can help.
