I appreciate how much everyone says about planning ahead. I completely agree that things flow more smoothly when things are prepped. I am noticing that in our very organized school with posted schedules, mutual cleaning checklist, and posted curriculum it is very easy to stay in track collaboratively. At home and in personal endeavors, not. When adding commute, work and sleep time I’m puzzled as to how to strike a balance that works sustainably? Do any of you have systems that work?

routines allow teachers to plan and prepare in advance. When activities happen at consistent times each day, you can organize materials ahead of time, set up learning centers quickly, and avoid last-minute scrambling. This makes better use of instructional time and helps us stay focused on engaging with children rather than constantly managing logistics.

Promoting students and my own children at home to be engaged with transitions, routines and tasks to be completed not only provides them with autonomy of their day and skills to carry but it also helps to streamline tasks that need to be completed.

One of my best time saving hacks is to check my emails and do my planning for the next day during naptime. As well if all of the children are asleep I will start to work on my crafts for the next day during naptime. Having everything ready to go for the day helps me feel more ready to be confident and assured that I can take the day head on.

I love using naptime to start my planning or checking messages from parents. This way I can make use of my time better.

One times saving hack I have is giving simple old task to my kids who are 2 to 3 years old. They can do a little stuff like sweet crumbs off tables put the put a towel back in it box etc. That saves me a whole lot of time. Also a basic routine for the kids know what to do next.

Hi all! One thing that really helped me stay organized in my classroom routine was to prep and make copies of the actives that I did through the year. The way that I did this was by keeping bins of different units we did throughout the year so when we were ready to revisit with the study I could just pull boxes of set activities down for the unit study. So I could prioritize my planning time by prepping for the entire unit seeing that I already had planned activities organized and laid out ready to pull. This also comes in handy when you are going on vacation or become sick then your co=teachers/subs can pull exactly wheat your class needs to stay on track. Keeping a To-Do list was a life saver, keeping me on track and it was posted in my closet every week so that me and my assistant teacher knew what needed to get done.

I usually will try to get help when I am overwhelmed. Sometimes I just need that extra support. I Try to plan my day, but I mostly use my phone for planning. I think I want to try a planner and see if that would help me to get a littlle more organized.

I utilize a planner at my program that I have all the activities for the month written down ahead of time. I am lucky to be given a curriculum to follow so I simply put the name of the activity in the planner, what page it is on within our binders, and when throughout the day would be the best time to do it.A golden moment for me was allowing my older students to help out the younger ones by telling them the activity ahead of time so they can help me facilitate it and allow it to run smoothly.

Always pre things ahead of time, to avoid last minute ‘unexpected’ situations that throw evrything off.

One way I manage time while setting up for activities is by having my students participate in the setting up and breaking down of activities while I’m introducing the activity. For example, if we’re practicing letters and drawing our own books about a certain season, I’ll ask the kid to grab markers, a different child to grab papers, and another child to grab the letters we are practicing and as we are all grabbing our materials, I will be explaining what we’re doing today.

Whenever I have ideas of things I want to get done or prepared I like to write them down. I think what best helps me stay ahead of time is taking advance of extra hands. So whenever we are in ratio and I have the opportunity to grab supplies or find materials we might need before we need two teachers in the classroom I do that. This may be cups, plates, rags, art materials, or whatever we might need for the rest of that day and sometimes materials for the following day as well. Some times breakers will go from classroom to classroom asking if we need help, bathroom breaks, or supplies and I always take advantage of this. You never know when help may come again so better to jump on it when it is available.

Time really is one of our most valuable resources, and in early childhood education, smart organization can make a huge difference for both teachers and children. One of my best <strong data-start=”179″ data-end=”200″>time-saving hacks is creating strong, predictable routines. When children know what comes next, transitions are smoother, behavior improves, and less time is spent redirecting. Preparing materials the day before and keeping activity bins clearly labeled also saves time and reduces stress during the day. Another helpful strategy is batching tasks—such as checking emails only at set times—so my focus stays on the children.A <strong data-start=”611″ data-end=”628″>golden moment that stands out is when a well-planned day allowed children to move calmly from outdoor play to a hands-on learning activity without frustration. Because materials were ready and expectations were clear, the children stayed engaged longer, collaborated more, and showed pride in their work. That organization didn’t just save time—it created a peaceful environment where learning truly thrived.

one of my biggest hacks for saving time and helping tasks go smoother is involving the kids whenever you can. Encouraging their independence can give you less work to do and it keeps the kids entertained. For example, letting them help cook or put on their own coat. Or, I have recently been letting more kids do their art project at once without me sitting next to them. They have been so much more intentional and enthusiastic about their projects when they are given freedom and structured time with friends. It also means that our daily project takes half the time it used to.
