Can you think of an example of a person who had a significant early childhood experience that impacted them in the future, whether good or bad?

GuestNovember 4, 2025 at 11:03 pmA profoundly positive early childhood experience i had benefited my life immensely. I would normally speedrun through work and remain engaged during worksheets and color sheets. However after they were over i would get distracted and walk around making noises as a kid. A teacher early on would ask me to draw something on the back of my page everytime i finished. This positive way of handling the situation not only benefited short term by keeping me out of trouble. But encouraged me to pursue art and handle time management.

GuestNovember 6, 2025 at 10:30 pmI remember my Kindergarten teacher her name was Miss Winters. She was always so kind and loving towards me. She was so patient with me because I had ADHD. Still to this day I think of her and the amount of kindness she had. I believe she is one of many amazing teachers I had that made me want to be a teacher.

GuestNovember 7, 2025 at 5:47 pmI had a Principal who made me feel like family, caring and nurturing and always had a welcoming spirit/smile. I learned how educators play a huge role in students lives and that impacts the future and since then i wanted to do the same for the children.

Great reflection, Samantha! Your principal’s nurturing influence beautifully highlights the power of caring educators in shaping futures.

GuestNovember 8, 2025 at 8:48 pmThere is a 5th grade male student. That has been misbehaving (according to his teacher and other staff), since the beginning of the school year. I learned of this student from the teacher that had been fed up with him and his behavior. While visiting his class, I decided to have a friendly chat with him. He began to tell me that no one in the class likes him. He felt like they all hated him, even the teacher. I told him that I like him and that I thought he was awesome. He began to tell me about his home life and how sad he was because of it. He then asked me about my childhood experiences concerning a similar experience. I decided to be transparent with him and shared my similar story with him. Somehow my story gave him hope. He began to smile and work on his classroom assignment. He expressed to me that he was going to change his negative behavior around at school and will try to do the same for at home. He made a pinky promise to me. The next day when he saw me, he approached me and told me that he was going to have a great day and do all of his work in class. He smiled at me, I smiled at him and he gave me a hug. The interesting is, I did not recognize or even remember him from the day before, but he remembered me. He remembered me showing him kindness when no one else would.

Desiree, your compassion and relatability truly made a difference for that student. Your story highlights the power of connection in early childhood experiences.

GuestNovember 9, 2025 at 3:08 pmI think that growing up never experiencing death in any way before and then going through such a close family death was really hard on my development. learning what death was in the first place was hard but having my uncle die so unexpectedly really impacted me at such a young age

Thank you for sharing, Alexis. Your experience highlights how profound early childhood events shape our understanding of life and loss.

GuestNovember 10, 2025 at 12:37 amWhen I was in high school I was in special education. I had a teacher tell me “You can’t even do algebra.” I used that to become determined, became a Registered Radiologic Technologist and later graduated from The University of Michigan School of Education with a 3.8 GPA. It is all in how you let things fuel you.

Great reflection, MISS! Your determination transformed a negative experience into motivation, showcasing resilience and the power of belief.
