Can you think of an example of a person who had a significant early childhood experience that impacted them in the future, whether good or bad?

GuestDecember 1, 2025 at 5:12 amI would think of myself (Stephanie) as someone whose early childhood experiences deeply shaped her future. I grew up in poverty and faced significant trauma, including emotional abuse at a young age. These hardships later fueled my empathy, resilience, and desire to create a platform for helping others. Her difficult beginnings ultimately contributed to her becoming as a future license Special Education Teacher.
-
Stephanie, your reflection on overcoming adversity is inspiring. Your experiences will undoubtedly enhance your empathy as a future educator.

GuestDecember 1, 2025 at 3:54 pmMy son switched to a montesorri school that focused on positive relationships before anything else and his entire school career went from poor to very good. He also became a very resilliant kiddo in the process
-
Great example, Mariah! Positive early experiences, like those in Montessori, can truly shape resilience and academic success.

GuestDecember 1, 2025 at 11:46 pmWhat comes to mind is my experiences growing up with very kind, loving, and generous grandparents who were always emotionally and physically supportive. There was always a lot of hugging and kissing and telling each other that I love you. As a result,, I am able to pass those feelings along to my children and grandchildren, assuring that they also grow up in a physically and emotionally demonstrative family.
-
Gail, your reflection beautifully highlights the lasting impact of love and support in childhood. It’s wonderful that you’re continuing this legacy!

GuestDecember 2, 2025 at 3:16 amits hard to think of a good example in my mind but I work at a daycare and usually I often see kids feelings pretty uncomfortable during the transitions to their newer classrooms when they move up and its usually pretty sad to watch or its nice to give them extra attention to make them feel not alone and just so they can warm up to the class feeling less alone and shy
-
Tula, your insight on supporting children during transitions is crucial! Your empathy in providing extra attention fosters a positive environment. Great job!

GuestDecember 2, 2025 at 7:47 amI have a family member that during their childhood they grew up seeing their father drunk. People would always criticize him and bully him because they would see his father drinking. Some people told him that he would end up like his father as he got older, an alcoholic. But he always told himself that he would never become an alcoholic like his father or that he would never follow his father’s steps. Until this day he has kept his word.
-
Agueda, great example! It highlights resilience and the power of personal determination in overcoming negative influences.

GuestDecember 4, 2025 at 9:51 pmAs a preschooler, I received speech therapy services from my school’s speech therapist. She significantly impacted me with her authentic kindness and caring for me. I still recall her 40 years later! And she certainly positively affected my decision to be an early childhood educator.

GuestDecember 4, 2025 at 10:47 pmWhen I was in early elementary school I had a very difficult time with spelling. I remember very specifically one time that my mother mentioned to my grandmother that we had to go home because it was spelling night, and I have a difficult time spelling. I was so embarrassed and I have remembered till this day.

GuestDecember 5, 2025 at 8:06 pmYes, my pre-K teacher impacted me in such a positive way. Teacher Dora made me feel welcome every day. I thought I was her favorite, that’s the way she made me feel. So I liked going to pre-k, and she made it a safe learning environment.

GuestDecember 5, 2025 at 8:25 pmI was very shy as child and had a teacher that always pushed me to come out of my shell. That caused me to have anxiety as a young child. Teachers should be there to support you and make you feel safe and comfortable.
-
Tricia, your reflection highlights the crucial role teachers play in shaping children’s confidence and emotional well-being. Great insight!

GuestDecember 6, 2025 at 4:09 pmI am a preschool teacher, and had a little girl in my classroom who was shy in the mornings. I talked to her mom and learned that she loved puppets. So, once day, when she came, we had a cute fluffy dragon joining our classroom, who introduced himself to the girl, and became her “morning pal” (he was sitting at the table with us, went to the circle time, even went outside with ous). Mom was very happy and grateful for my invention. The girl was always smiling when she came in and saw Red the Dragon waiting for her by the door. 🙂
-
Yelena, that’s a wonderful example of how understanding a child’s interests can create a positive impact on their emotional well-being! Great job!

GuestDecember 8, 2025 at 1:04 am<div></div><div>My nephew got sick and missed a week of daycare after his first week. When he came back the teachers had changed and the new teacher was not as patient because they didn’t know he had only been going for a week. Because of this they gave him less affection while he was upset. When he started kindergarten, he was nervous at drop off and didn’t want to go near the teacher for comfort but she stayed near him until he warmed up and he is slowly starting to feel comfortable with school staff. </div>

Hannah, your reflection highlights the crucial role of nurturing educators in easing children’s transitions. Great insight!

GuestDecember 8, 2025 at 5:03 amMy first experience working in childcare I met this really nice Lead Teacher in the infant class. I learned so much from her, she was passionate about her job she’s been in childcare for over 10 years. She enjoyed teaching every day she had a smile on her face ready to take care of the babies she was always so calm, patient, caring and supportive. Very attentive to the babies all important qualities to have when working with children. Made the children feel safe and comfortable and cared for. This is a good example I’m sharing. It’s amazing to take on a role to help babies grow to be apart of their daily routine encouraging their development in crawling, to self feeding to early walking. It’s so rewarding to be apart of those early milestones.
-
Great reflection, Tessa! Your experience highlights the profound impact passionate educators can have on children’s development and well-being.
