Have them sing songs such as happy birthday or twinkle twinkle little star! This allows hand washing to still be an engaging activity for children, and will encourage hygiene.

The way I make washing hands fun is use a colorful soap and make them sing happy birthday until they scrub all of the color off.

My favorite hands-on science activity to demonstrate the importance of handwashing is the process where you sprinkle black pepper into a container of water, then dip your finger, or an object, covered in soap, into the same container. Since the pepper is repelled away from the soap, it demonstrates the same principle of washing our hands to repel germs.

Creating a fun song that involves the amount of time it takes to wash hands, and steps involved. Or having interacting activities to show how to wash hands completely, like blue light on your hands to see how well one washes their hands.

I make handwashing fun using music or games; I ask children to count or sing while washing their hands and praise them for doing a good job. This helps create healthy habits in fun way.

Obviously, singing a song will work, although I have witnessed some children pretending there is some alien (germs) on them that we would need to wash away before they get recruited to the alien space force (washing hands and getting rid of germs) I have only seen this twice and thought it was just so funny it stuck in my mind.

One time when helping a child wash their hands, I tried to narrate the activity as if we were at a racetrack, and I was announcing each of the steps.
