Yes I do. Children love animals. My preschool class adopted some squirrels that would come to our window every morning. I bought some peanuts so the children could feed them. They were so excited to come to school to see the squirrels and feed them everyday. This experience gave the children a sense of pride and team work. Every morning together the children would get the peanuts ready and I would help them outside so they could feed them. It brought the children so much joy when they saw the squirrels eat the peanuts and then stand in front of window as to say “thank you children for takings care of us.”

I think animals are great to have in the classroom. I work with the infants so I’m not sure what animals would be appropriate. We had a fish for a while. At home we have pets and I appreciate that my kids love them, and that the pets are their go-to when they might be upset or wanting company.

Two benefits of animals that I have learned from Exercise Inside and Out, is you do not need a live animal present to move and act like one and think about how it exercises. Second animals help us learn about ourselves and think of health and the benefit of being aware of what I am doing.

Yes, animals in the classroom can be an awesome learning experience for children of all ages. They love to observe and engage with creatures big and small.

In my program we hatch quail. The children learn about the hatching process, watch the eggs start to hatch and then observe the chicks. It’s been so awesome to watch. Having quail eggs to eat has even helped some picky eaters try new foods.

Yes animals in the classroom are a great teaching tool. They help with teaching responsibility feeding,changing out the bedding. Having animals also teaches children how to be kind and loving to things that are smaller then themselves.
