GuestAugust 18, 2022 at 1:04 pmI encourage children to engage in physical activity by giving them specific goals, such as jumping over a book, running across the room, or using the monkey bars.

GuestJanuary 26, 2023 at 8:04 pmI taped some streamers on a paper towels roll on one end. We listen to music swinging out streamers around fast and slow. Just make sure to have plenty of space between each child! They ask to do it every day!

GuestSeptember 1, 2024 at 2:21 amI think it is highly beneficial to include locomotor, non-locomotor, adventurobics and relaxation activities with the goal of at least 60 minutes each early learning day.

GuestMay 20, 2025 at 9:47 amI like to use movement with sounds that match or contrast to get children to use their imagination to role play. Humor and silly ideas can coax overweight or large boned children to move just because it’s abstract fun. Try being a tiny fly who tip toes around buzzing then barking or growling like a tiger! Pretend to walk up a wall making an animal sound! Make up a wacky voice for that tiny. baby stepping fly. Then make a tiny fly with a big booming voice. My you’re a loud fly! Imagine being a big gorilla. Can you make your body move with giant steps? Swing your arms and stomp your feet. Climb a tree and pretend to swing through the branches. Give big gorilla yell! Climb down the tree and stomp to the river. Drink water with big slurping sounds. Give a big yawn. pile up some leaves and curl up for a nap.

GuestDecember 31, 2025 at 9:56 pmI use Danny GO!!! it is a ton of fun and it not only teaches the kids motor skills there is a plethora of other things to do. I forgot to mention you adults must join in for it also keeps you having fun and gets you moving also. You can put Danny Go on in your car, or van when you stopped like i do when waiting on kids to get in the van from school because it takes a while to wait this is a perfect opportunity to get the kids in the van engaged and use their imaginations especially during the climbing, rowing, ect. that right you heard right Danny Go is all of this and then some. Be careful its a great addiction:)

GuestMarch 23, 2026 at 12:15 amToddlers and older children love pretending to be animals so we often do animal related exercises, such as dances, movements, along with songs, sounds.

GuestApril 5, 2026 at 4:41 amI try to engage them in read-alouds by adding movement in. They seem to pay close attention to details when we do this.
