Teacher demeanor definitely impacts a child. I have seen first hand older children still mimicking their teachers from preschool, good and bad.

It make the children want to be there. If they see that you are happy and having fun the child is more likely to enjoy time.

Having a positive and caring teacher can help a student feel comfortable enough to open up and fully connect with her lesson and her peers.

I taught a child that his parents called him naughty all the time. as he grew up he just started playing the part thinking that no one would see him differently.

When I was in kindergarten I had a teacher that was very serious and stern and rarely smiled or interacted with the class in a playful way. Even at that young age, I was stressed out and remember not enjoying school. It was difficult to get past the teacher’s demeanor to focus on what was being taught. I remember Kindergarten as not being a fun time for me.

When i was young, and my siblings or I misbehaved my mother would do this thing us kids nicknamed ”the eye” where she would squint and close one eye. and whenever she did that we knew we did something we shouldn’t have. She didn’t have to say anything we just knew. and now as an adult i find myself making the same face

Nonverbal communication impacts our future, especially in education because children don’t always respond verbally when we’re teaching them or even asking them to do something. So showing our different emotions and how to share them is important on a day to day basis.

When i was in school my teacher did not smile much and made me scared to raise my hand or participate in the class. I did not feel welcomed and thought my teacher didn’t like any of her students. So instead of being an innocent learning child, I was more worried about not making my teacher frown more or make her upset.

I remember a childhood teacher who was very kind with her smiles when I got in trouble as a child. I always wanted to please her after that.

Having a teacher that always smiles at me and acknowledge me when I walked in the room made my morning. Sometimes I don’t know if my teacher was serious or not, she’ll smile and looked at you like I mean right now. So your facial expression is very important.

Teacher with no reactions or frown all the time scares me.
