I would begin by asking the parent if they had time to talk.

I would talk about the things that their child is doing well with specific examples.

I would then gently bring up the topic of timing. And I would word it something like “Are you aware that our center closes at 6pm.” or “just wanted to let you know that .. . . ”

And then, I would end with more positive things about their kid.
