You have a shared goal, the development and health of the child. Use this to build relationships with the parent or caregiver and show that you truly care and have the best interests for their child. Be open and honest about concerns for the child without being accusatory. Work together to create plans to further help the child with where they need to be.

Using the screen as tools to play music is okay, but the child should not be able to see the screen. Make sure entertainment is coming from toys and interactions instead of a screen.

This means giving the child time to interact and respond and doing the back and forth with he child. This is also recognizing when the child is done with the activity and ready to move on.

The child might not be able to understand that something else could prevent the parent from leaving. The child should be the parent’s biggest priority.
