I think screen time can only be an issue if it’s being abused, and used for long periods a day. I think its okay if it’s being used for an educational purpose or just for a little while as a reward. For example, I love seeing my child get excited over tv characters and when there are books that have her favorite characters it gives me a chance to read her some books that keep her interested. So sometimes it can be beneficial to have screen time.

Serve and return can be practiced during playtime. I would try to play with something that the child is interested, or have them build something together with me to encourage working together.

My approach to this would be to communicate with them that this ongoing pattern is concerning. Their child can feel certain emotions toward their parent not arriving on time like the other parents. Ask the parent if there is a way for them to arrive on time or if there is a serious reason why they aren’t able to arrive on time. Their late arrival is affecting the staff’s schedule and can’t become a frequent habit and there can be consequences if the matter is not resolved promptly.
